王大观

山东人。回族。擅国画。北京铁路局。1958年进中央美术学院进修。1978年在中国画研究院创作。曾任北京铁路局文协副主席。
王大观生前他爱北京，爱老北京的民俗风情达到了痴迷的程度，他的画笔没有停过，总是画北京的城墙，画老北京的民俗风情。我在20世纪80年代初曾在《燕都》杂志上看到过他的画作《中秋赏月图》、《踏青图》，知道了他的名字，但不认识他。在他70岁那年，出版了老北京历史长卷——《旧京环顾图》画册。这是他一生倾注了自己的心血的传世之作，人我们留下了一笔不可多得的展示老北京风俗民情的巨大财富。
王大观8岁入贫民小学读书，因家生活条件不允许他时断时续地念了4年书，总算高小毕了业。他爱画画，没有人指导他，13岁之前都是他自学的。自学是艰难的，全靠自己摸索研究。一次意外的机会使他有幸看到了故宫太庙的藏品，接触到众多画家的画风。他对夏圭的《长江万里图》和张择端的《清明上河图》情有独钟，他喜爱画中的景物和情节。心中产生了要像《长江万里图》和《清明上河图》那样，用自己的画笔创作出一系列展现北京的民俗风情的巨幅手卷。
他14岁那年进了，当过杂工、应印刷工和临时工，三年之中两次失业。他20岁那年在北京站当站夫，在中国共产党的领导下，人极进行罢工斗争，虽取得了胜利，但自己被开除。在失业期间，他曾用画笔画小人书，靠卖小人书人生活。北京解放以后，20世纪50年代，他作为一名工人干部，参加了铁路部门的文化宫和工会组织的工人美术活动，给了他更多的接近群众的机会。后又被推荐到中央美术学院进修，开始了正规的专业美术绘画学习，曾从师于著名画家李斛和叶浅予先生。在李、叶二先生的悉心指导下，终于成为一名中国画研究院的画家。
王大观的绘画创作态度是严肃的。他的巨幅长卷《残冬京华图》用了10年的时间！“文革”中，他被下放到干校劳动。晚上，别人都休息了，他独自一人在灯下揣摩。构思人物造型。他年复一年的构思，年复一年的默写，年复一年的修订，千幢万幢建筑，千株万株树木，千万个物，千种百种行业，最终才形成画面，真是一人一物都是血，十年辛苦不寻常。
